Kahrs, a native of Bremen, now lives in Berlin. His paintings and drawings often use video projections or photo as a starting point. He uses fragments of these images (often from the media) to create new ideas spun from the original themes. The resultant image, painting, is often transformed into something quite different from the image of the starting point.

Oehelen's Der rosa Salon is a large piece. It's scale is part of what makes it such a striking piece of work. It is difficult to get its measure through any photograph, let alone one so scaled down. Look at the space in this piece. There is a great deal of it and it serves to focus attention on the figure in the middle.
