Mónica Ferreras de la Maza has been named the first artist to take part in the International Davidoff Art Residency, a partnership between The Davidoff Art Initiative and the International Studio & Curatorial Program in New York City. The residency is for Dominican and Caribbean artists. It aims to help artists from the region participate in leading residencies around the world.
Ferreras de la Maza, who is Dominican, will take up her residency at ISCP from September 1 to November 30, 2012. She will take part in the ISCP open studio visit in November.
The Davidoff Art Residency aims to help emerging and mid-career artists from the Caribbean to make connections, develop and share skills and expose their work. Ultimately the aim is to increase visibility of art from the region.
