Michael Oatman: An Exhibition of New Collages and Videos runs from October 25 to December 21, 2013 at Miller Yezerski Gallery (460 Harrison Ave, Boston). There will be a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 1.
The collages are assembled from a massive number of pieces cut from children's books, science encyclopedias, arms catalogs, nature guides and other publications. There are also three new videos.
The exhibit is of work where Oatman looks at the animal kingdom (including animals of the hairless ape variety). He looks at the various relationships and interactions involved via portraits, piles of stuff and a cosmic peacock.
