Six Pencils Micha Patiniott's ZzzzzZzzZzz runs from March 27 to May 3, 2014 at Anna Zorina Gallery (533 West 23rd St., New York). There will be a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday March 27, 2014.
This is Dutch artist Patiniott's first solo exhibit. The title refers to that state of "suspended consciousness" often confused with sleep or a lack of awareness--this is the very state artist often use to create and become focused and absorbed in their work. The state is that grey area between presence and absence. His work also uses the notion of play as a mover in the creation of culture (see Johan Huizinga).
