There is a reception for the artist from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday March 22, 2013. An online catalog is available HERE.
Semivan uses staged photographs in her ongoing work (Observatory) which “combines drawing, an archive of objects and the human presence as a narrative tool.” The human brings the story to the images, the set-up of the objects photographed.
Semivan says, in her artist statement, that her interest in photography is interdisciplinary. Her work is “informed” (inspired) by the written word, drawing, sculpture and the “raw material of huam experience. She uses an early 20th century 8x10 inch view camera that uses large scale negatives that are scanned and printed—and do not use digital manipulation of any sort.
