Christian Faur's Poppies is made of 19,000 hand-cast encaustic crayons. A 2012 exhibition by the artist was entitled Rods And Cones, relating the parts of the human eye to that workhorse of the elementary school, the crayon. It is a clever concept and is brilliantly executed. You can see more HERE.
Antonio Petracca's Kiss Me is oil paint on canvas on wood. Petracca's recent exhibit 10 was his response to the tragedy of 9/11. He was, himself, displaced by the attacks. The reaction of some reminded him of prejudice suffered in an earlier time by Italian Americans. His work uses different media and focus as much on rebuilding as on destruction. Find out more HERE.
