James Austin Murray's Mystery Of Light runs April 3 to May 3, 2014 at Lyons Wier Gallery (542 West 24th Street, New York). There will be a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 3.
This is Murray's first solo exhibition at Lyons Wier. His work is intricate and abstract. The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was an old 78 record. Then you seem the grooves, patterns and subtle differences in color. And keep in mind, I am looking at photographs of the images--not the actual images.
