Howard Gross' Whistpering is his latest collection of mixed media relief sculptures, colored pencil drawings and scratch pencil drawings. It runs at Causey Contemporary (29 Orchard St., New York) from April 14 to May 8, 2016. There will be a public reception, with the artist from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday April 15. This is the artists fourth solo show with the gallery.
Gross has an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. His first solo exhibit was with the Alan Frumkin Gallery in Chicago. Back in the day his work was photography--not of skyscrapers but of cracks in sidewalks, roads and more. He is well known for his A Closed Eye Concept where he took photos of art luminaries with their eyes closed.
