One of the artists who lept out at Art Basel Miami Beach 2014 was Porter. He was a Harvard alumnus of an artistic family (his father was an architect, mother a poet and brother a photographer). The preponderance of his work were landscapes-sometimes there are figures in the work. The painting below, Twilight, was created in the last year of the painters life.
Burchfield worked mostly in watercolors. His work were often landscapes or paintings of small towns. His paintings have been the subject of exhibitions at the Whitney, MOMA and the Metropolitan.
