Heikki Marila and Reima Nevalainen showed work with Galerie Forsblom (Helsinki) at Art Miami 2016. Both artists are from Finland.
This piece by Marila is a still life (or is it? look closely). Yet the artist's work runs a gamut from the spiritual to the carnal. His work has been widely shown in Scandinavia and Europe. He won the Carnegie Art Award in 2012.
Nevalainen creates collage paintings where humans and their environment coexist, not with one dominating the other, but as equals. His paintings are created using multiple layers that or scraped away or by mixing sand with paper. The result or deep, textured works. He was also Finland's Young Artist of the Year in 2016.
