Guillermo Kuitca's Idea De Una Pasion was the first painting to catch my eye at Art Basel (proper, the ACTUAL Art Basel). Of course neither of the photos do the piece, shown by Mary-Anne Martin Fine Art.
I had made an "Art Basel rule" this year--no photos of discussion of paintings by artists who are dead or widely known by the general populace. This rule went out the window but because of it...Kuitca was the first photo.
Do not get the idea from this that Kuitca is not a prominent artist. The Buenos Aires native's work has been shown all over the world and is in numerous private and public collections. Architecture--the spaces we live in--seem to be a recurrent theme in his work.
