A solo exhibition by 2E, Gotham Ruins, runs from August 22 to 31, 2013 a ArtNow NY (548 West 28th Street, 2nd Floor). There will be an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013. This exhibit of 2E's photographs is the first exhibit by the artist in New York.
The historic, decaying and overrun bits of New York that are in the process of being lost are the subject of these phots. They are take in drug dens, from atop city bridges. The feature historic architecture soon to be destroyed so someone can put an Eyeglass Hut and a condominium up. The Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg is a focus of 2E's recent work. The historic factory is being destroyed for the sake of a billion dollar development to create 2000 apartments.
2E is, obviously, not a given name and is used because some of this work requires entering areas forbidden. Go see this exhibit.
