Danielle Procaccio was part of the Mapanare coverage of Art Chicago. A lot of really good artists were left out of that coverage because I worked too slow and it took forever and I eventually stopped the posts before I had a nervous breakdown. Nonetheless, I felt I would be remiss if I did not note Procaccio.
Her work is the sort of art that some of my "artist" friends (and I put quotes around that because, to me, you have to create art to be an artist, not just think about it) get angry with. They call it "optimistic." I have to wonder what is wrong with the visual optimism of her "flower series" and the wild beauty of her horses?
