Aqua Art Miami, Actually In Miami Beach, Takes Over The Aqua Hotel In The Heart Of South Beach

11/29/2017

Picture
Aqua Art Miami actually takes place in Miami Beach at the Aqua Hotel Deccember 6 to 10, 2017. There is a distinction between Miami and Miami Beach. Even though Lebron James said he was taking his talents to South Beach (technically Miami Beach south of about 17th Street) he was really taking them to MIAMI.

The artists of Aqua Art Miami are, in fact, taking THEIR talents to South Beach. Aqua always has one of the most fun, easy-going openings of any fair. The fair is also smaller, easy to go through and the selection of galleries is unique and stylistically  varied.

Among the galleries on hand this year are Boxheart Gallery (Pittsburgh) and Tranter-Sinni Gallery (Miami). You can check out some pieces from each below. Also, check out the complete exhibitor list HERE.

Untitled, Art Runs December 6 To 10, 2017 On Miami Beach (Literally, ON Miami Beach)

Untitled, Art will once again grace Miami Beach (it takes place, literally ON the beach) from December 6 to 10, 2017. Just head east on 12th Street and when you run out of land? There it is.

You can see a complete list of exhibitors HERE. Below are images from a few galleries--Asya Geisberg Gallery, Fredericks & Freiser Gallery and Lombard Gallery.

Each year Untitled presents contemporary artists in an open, welcoming environment. Sometimes during art week you can feel like you are at a shopping mall on Black Friday. Generally no one elbows you out of the way to get at a $5 toaster but sometimes people get packed tight. The art at Untitled will impress the most persnickity fan of contemporary art but the layout makes it easy to take it all in. They have been the best laid out fair  pretty much every year they've been in Miami.

Ink Miami Art Fair (Miami Beach) Exhibitors Include GraphicStudio, Rabley Gallery, Tandem Press And Many Others December 6 To 10, 2017

Ink Miami Art Fair at the Suites of Dorchester (1850 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) has exhibitors such as GraphicStudio, Rabley Gallery and Tandem Press, among many others. The fair takes place from December 6 to 10, 2017. The fair is free and open to the public.

Ink is right near Art Basel, Form Miami and a number of other fairs (and also spitting distance from Lincoln Road). It is a fair focused on printed art. At fairs past I have seen works by Louise Bourgeois and Jim Dine to artists just starting their careers. The fair has pieces that are pricey to be sure but there are also tons of affordable pieces for a variety of tastes.

Ink Miami is also a small manageable fair. You can go through it in fairly short order (and have a drink at the hotel bar). It is a great fair to pop into before or after visiting Art Basel at the Convention Center.

The Miami Fair at 56 N. 29th St from December 6 to 10, 2017 includes a midnight vernissage from 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6. The fair will include 46 exhibitors (32 solo artists and 14 galleries) from all over the world. There will be 800 original works. In line with the fair's notion of "art for all," pieces range in price from $200 to $10,000.

Seattle Art Fair 2017 Runs August 4 To 6 At CenturyLink Field Event Center

Seattle Art Fair 2017 runs August 4 to 6 at CenturyLink Field Event Center (1000 Occidental Ave. S).

This year's festival features 88 exhibitors from 26 cities and nine countries. A large percentage of these galleries are from the Pacific Rim (not the monster movie...the area). This, to me, makes this fair distinct from what you see at many East Coast/Central USA fairs. There is a different flavor here when you look at the list of exhibitors (which you can do HERE).

There is also a slew of programming curated by artistic director, Laura Fried. You can see the programming HERE.

Superfine! Art Fair Runs May 4 To 6, 2017 In New York City During Frieze Week

Superfine! Art Fair runs May 4 to 7, 2016 at 459 West 14th St., New York City (Meatpacking District). This is  the fair's inaugural Frieze Week edition.

Superfine! The Fairest Fair was a highlight of Art Week in Miami. The funky, manageable fair with a range of artists who
some might call "outsiders" but who are really right in the middle of what contemporary art is all about. Or what it should be all about.

The NYC version will feature the Young Collectors' Ice Cream Social feat. DJ set (with live vocals) by Penguin Prison from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday May 5. There will, of course, be other happenings and you can find out about all of them HERE.

Check out our interview with Superfine! co-founder, Alex Mitow, HERE.

FRidGe Art Fair, Fifty Shades of FRidGe, New York edition number five announces two new venues  for the May 3 To 6, 2017 fair. Branded Saloon (603 Vanderbilt Ave., Brooklyn) and Little NU FRidGe (85 Smith St., Brooklyn).

The latter is a pop up show at the NU Hotel curated by Michelle Hill and Susanna Thornton. For those who were at Miami's Art Week this is similar to the "Mini Fridge" at the Betsy Hotel. The main venue is a country western club in the heart of Brooklyn (who KNEW there was such a thing!).

Expect fun, cutting edge artwork. Founder Eric Ginsberg's work will also be represented. He paints cats and dogs and proceeds from his work goes to BARC (Brooklyn Animal Rescue Coalition).

FRidGe asks for donations but if you are strapped? They turn no one away. Find out more HERE.
