Andrew Rafacz Gallery (835 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago) opens Psychosexual, an exhibit curated by Scott J. Hunter, April 6, 2013 The exhibit runs until May 25. There will be a reception with the artists from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6.
Psychosexual is about the created but unconscious meaning of physical gestures in art and the eroticism, the intimacy therein. Artists included are; Tom Burr, Rachel Niffenegger, Edmund Chia, John Neff, Matthias Dornfeld, Jayson Keeling, Lutz Bacher, Jutta Koether, Nazafarin Lotfi, Brenna Youngblood, Jeffry Mitchell, Peter Otto and Kirsten Stoltmann.
The gesture, part of the artist’s very self, is made tangible in art and as it is done it projects the artists desires and more. And then it connects with those who view the art.
There will be a catalog in conjunction with the exhibition. This will include essays by Scott J. Hunter, Elijah Burgher and Jason Foumberg.
