The band is also playing their first solo show since the Ferry tour in New York City, November 23 at the Hiro Ballroom as part of the Tummy Touch 15 year anniversary. Horse Meat Disco and Bing Ji Ling will also perform. Tummy Touch founder and DJ, Tim “Love” Lee will be spinning (as will others).
The Phenomenal Handclap Band, fresh off a tour with Bryan Ferry, have released a new single, Following. The band has a new record on the way. Form & Control comes out January 31 on Tummy Touch Records. The new single is above and while no one has said as much, I ASSUME the band will be touring to support the new record. Everyone I know who saw them on the Ferry tour had good things to report.

If you have not heard Kaki King play, do yourself a favor and go listen. Now. Ok…back? What did you think? Pretty awesome. I have never had the good fortune to see her perform live but her recordings are amazing. King is headingout on an acoustic tour in the Southeast. She even has her own Ovation signature model guitar. Her most recent recording, Junior, came out last year and was a more rock effort. But for this tour? She goes back to her roots. It is just her and her guitars. If you get a chance, check her out. Tour 11/3 Carrboro, NC The Arts Center 11/4 Greenville, SC The Handlebar 11/5 Wilmington, NC The Soapbox Laundro Lounge 11/6 Charleston, SC The Pour House 11/9 Clearwater, FL Capitol Theatre 11/10 St. Augustine, FL Original Café 11 11/11 Miami, FL DWNTWN Miami Concert Series 11/12 Orlando, FL Plaza Live 11/14 Birmingham, AL WorkPlay 11/16 Starkville, MS State Theatre 11/17 Chattanooga, TN Barking Legs Theater 11/18 Athens, GA New Earth Music Hall 11/19 Atlanta, GA The Loft Ximena Sariñana is heading out on tour in the USA. The singer and songwriter (whose pr people included a neat pronunciation key for the gringos…but I don’t include because I find embarrassing mispronunciation hilarious) begins this sojourn in Portland on November 4 and finishes up on December 22 in Chicago. This is Sariñana’s first USA headlining tour. She has toured as an opener and appeared at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. Her first record (self-titled) in English came out in August and was co-produced by Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen) and Dave Sitek (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio). Sariñana was in an indie band in Mexico and her solo release in Spanish appeared in 2008 and was a big hit in her homeland. She even won Best New Artist at the Latin MT V Awards (but we will not hold that against her. If you are a film buff you may know of her father, Fernando. Sariñana has also been an actress for around a decade and a half—impressive considering she is 25. But do not discount her because of the actress/singer/with a famous dad- thing. Boots Electric is the side project of Jesse Hughes—although I hate the term “side project.” Why did I just use it? Because I have been brainwashed into using the term when a musician has ANOTHER project. I am sure Hughes puts JUST as much effort into this as Eagles of Death Metal... In any case Boots Electric have a new video for the song, Complexity, off the record Honkey Kong. I sort of like the old biker 70s meets disco glam (or something) vibe of this stuff. Have a listen and a look. Go see them on tour. Dates below. Tour
