On September 10, 2013 Motéma Music will release Kentyah presents: M1, Brian Jackson & The New Midnight Band: Evolutionary Minded. An unwieldly title for a release celebrating the worl of the late and great, Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson. Artists apearing on this release include Jackson, M1, Chuck D, Martin Luther, Mike Clark, Gregory Porter and members of Scott-Heron's Amnesia Express and Midnight Band. You can check out the video for the track, Opponent, below (featuring Dead Prez and Martin Luther). You will (if you know Scott-Heron, recognize parts of Angola in the track). Kentyah, behind the project, is a writer, producer and educator. He began at Spooky's record label and paid his dues working behind the scene. Now he is coming out from behind the curtain with this provocative, historical work. Japanther is poised to head out on tour (yes, we've mentioned it before). But they just released a new video for their song, Something to Do, so a reminder seemed appropriate. The band is touring in support of their just released LP, Eat Like Lisa, Act Like Bart. Check out live dates below. Tour

We've written about Caveman before and even took photos of a show. Hell, we probably posted about the tour they are out on now. The band has just announced new dates in the Fall with Ra Ra Riot, however, and that is certainly worth a mention. You can see these below. The current dates are with Rogue Wave. The band has a fairly new single out (actually not out in the UK yet). You can see the video for In The City at the band's website. Cavemen happily mix and break down walls between sub genres. One minute they sound like 70s AOR and in the next elements of 90s shoegaze creep in. They've only been around a couple of years so it will be fun to see where they go next. Be sure to check them out live. Tour
