At the same time the younger man began making music--inspired by Jackson Heights. The press release notes that he was "delighted" to find out his new library card gave him access to music (things in the "Americans take stuff for granted" category). Tour

The record, an EP, was inspired by, well, failure (at least in Thornley's eyes) The first song, Say That You Will, was inspired by a previously recorded, but never released EP. She didn't release it because she didn't think it was good enough. Septagon is good enough. The overarching theme relates to the notion that you need to see things from different angles. Always a good thing for any artist. The breezy, heartfelt, EP really makes you want to hear more from Thornley. For more on the artist go to www.beththornley.com. The label deserves kudos not only for their new bands but for unearthing lost gems like this. The Bremen-duo released a single and then fell prey to the vaguaries of the music business (in this case? If the person who discovered YOU is on the "outs"? So are you). You can check out an edit of the late 70s German electronic act by Pharoahs below. Note the "eastern" instruments and the late 70s disco production style. Cool stuff. |
