Marianne Boesky Gallery (New York/Aspen) showed work by Barnaby Furnas at Art Basel Miami Beach 2018.
This piece, David and Goliath, is dispersed pigments, acrylic, colored pencil and pencil on linen. The piece is 74 x 61 inches.
Furnas started out as a street artist (sort of goes without saying for anyone under 50) and received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA from Columbia. You really can see his background in his work. I actually thought, before I knew a thing about the artist, that this piece looked like graffiti meeting the Rennaisance.
