Licht Feld (Basel) showed work by Ayakamay, Pawel Ferus and Fredy Hadorn at Context Miami 2016.
Ayakamay, who grew up in both the USA and Japan, incorporates her two cultural backgrounds in her work.
Hadorn, the man behind Licht Feld, only rarely includes his own work at fairs in the USA. This is a shame because his sculptures are always intriguing pieces. The play on words in the piece below is typical; there is a meaning beneath the surface. It is interesting (perhaps even terrifying) to imagine a work by Hadorn based on today's fiscal-political happenings.
Ferus' piece is a a different sort of hanging sculpture. It is a more primitive piece, somewhere between a fearsome totem and a child's nightmare. He currently lives in Basel. He was trained in sculpture in Italy. His work is both stone sculpture and casting.
