David B. Smith Gallery (Denver) showed work by Bart Exposito and John Knuth at Untitled Miami Beach 2016.
With Exposito's work it is easy to forget the subtle colors. Your eyes focus on the dark lines and shapes rather than the color--which is what, to me, makes the pieces. The artist holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Art. This piece is acrylic on canvas.
Knuth's piece below is acrylic and flyspeck on canvas. What is "flyspeck?" Basically fly poop. Knuth feeds flies watercolor paint and they poop it on to the canvas. I am not making this up.
Knuth holds an MFA from USC and a BFA from the University of Minnesota.
