Brendan Benson’s new video for the track, Pretty Baby, was directed by Young Hines. Young Hines is also the first signing to Benson’s own label, Readymade. If you are looking at the name “Brendan Benson” and thinking “I know him from somewhere” you are right. He was a founding member of The Raconteurs. Tour dates are below as well as the video.
Good comparisons for his music are Todd Rundgren and Harry Nilsson—perhaps more of the latter. Pretty Baby is off the fifth Benson solo effort, What Kind of World.
There is also a design contest for a commemorative poster for the album, What Kind Of World. The prize for winning is $500 and some other stuff. Find out more HERE.

Miggs fans (and if you are not one you should really look into becoming one) you have an opportunity to put together the band’s set list for their upcoming show.
Here is how it works, three days before each show a message will go out from the band’s Facebook and Twitter pages letting you know about your chance to “call the show.” On the morning of the show the band will pick their fave playlist and announce a winner.
I would advise against including any Molly Hatchet songs.
If you set list is selected you can win an autographed copy of the set list, a Miggs gift pack and a picture with the band (for use on the social media page of your choice).
Don Miggs also has a slew of amazing guitars and there will be several interviews with Miggs about these instruments (with video) at Gearwire.com shortly.

Ableton, creators of one of the world’s most popular music writing/recording/performing software, are working to give something back.
Obviously they have an interested in technology and music. One area where technology has become integral is in teaching music.
The Ableton Summer Music Challenge is supporting music education efforts by having students get creative during summer vacation and, in doing so, help out their school.
Here is how it works.
-Students record music.
-They then upload that music to SoundCloud to enter.
-Then they share the music through their favorite social networks.
Tracks with the most plays by August 31 will then go to the Ableton Summer Music Challenge Jury. Award winners will be determined there. There are two age groups—under 15 and 15-18.
Schools can win the following.-- - Ableton Live Intro audio production platform - Novation Launchpadmidi controller - Novation NIO 2/4 audio interface - SoundCloud pro account (1 year) - Loopmasters sample collections
