_ Total Slacker have a show coming up, November 29 in Brooklyn at Shea Statium (with 2:54). The Village Voice reviewer or writer dubbed them a “shitgaze” band. I’d go over and punch that writer in the face myself cause it isn’t a genre you want to get stuck with.

You can hear a track, Secret VHS Collections, below. Hey! I have one of those! It is all midget porn.

Just a few quick little things as the Holiday is upon us. No turkey for me I am afraid but Tofurky suits me fine. Caveman is a band I shot some photos of awhile back--I do not recall if I did a good job or crappy job on the pics BUT the band were really great.

You can check them out as a  tour begins in December.  It is to be imagined more dates will be added. You can keep an eye on the band via their website.

_ Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs do remixes for Lady Gaga (Marry the Night) and dress up like Native Americans. TEED also have a new song that comes with a video--Move On. Check it out below.

TEED just finished up a USA tour (which I missed because I suck). This is dance music. If you like thoughtful, interesting dance music, I expect you will like TEED (aka Orlando Higginbottom). Higginbottom has also been involved in some neat projects like the DRC Music project. Find out more about it.

The title of the record, in case you were wondering, comes from a 1930s church hymnal found in an old piano bench. You can download the track bedbedbedbedbed via Soundcloud HERE.

_ The third release from School Of Seven Bells, Ghostory, is coming. When I give examples of how music today is head and shoulders above any other time? School of Seven Bells is inevitably one of the examples I trot out as proof.

The now duo’s record comes out February 28. 2012 on Vagrant Records/Ghostly International. The band, once a trio, are now a duo made up of Benjamin Curtis and Alajandra Deheza. This new record was recorded in the spaces between the band’s frequent tours.

If you haven’t heard the band they can have any of a number of labels hung on them-indie, shoegaze, electronic etc etc. This record sounds like more of a concept record as the story of a young girl and the ghosts in her life. It is story put to music.

Exits And All The Rest
Girl in A Coma, from San Antonio, are on their fourth record--at an age when most bands you can think of hadn't finished their first. When you think of young musical artists the image you get is sometimes very...bubblegum.

Get that out of your head with these women. It isn't that they can't be subtle, some of their music really is. They range from straight up rock n roll to understated indie pop. If their live show is as good as their recorded material? Well. you have to go see them. Tomorrow , November 19, they appear at Double Door in Chicago. The rest of their dates are and a streaming track HERE.

_ Heartless Bastards have a new record coming on Partisan records.  I was going to make a joke about this being a band and not the GOP but it just seemed to obvious. And beating on the GOP right now is like whacking a piñata that is already busted.

The record, Arrow, comes out February 14, 2012.

Arrow was produced (or co-produced?) by Spoon drummer, Jim Eno at his Public Hi-Fi studio.

The last album from Heartless Bastards, The Mountain, was really good.  So hopes should be high for this new release.

You can sign up at theheartlessbastards.com to hear a preview of the first single from the record, Parted Ways, on December 1 (sign up now…hear it then, I presume).
