I just threw the video in cause there was a link. I am like that sometimes, spontaneous.
There will be a tour to support the new record in the USA with tours in Australia and Europe to follow.
Dark Dark Dark have a new record, Who Needs Who, coming in October from Supply & Demand Records. The band was last heard from in 2010 with Wild Go. They tour like crazy and they have a new single, Tell Me, out now. You can hear it below and see a video for an earlier track. I just threw the video in cause there was a link. One Chicago Festival that is a no hassle good time, all day long, but doesn’t get the ink nationally of some others—is the Hideout’s Block Party. This year bands (so far) include; Iron & Wine, Wye Oak, The War On Drugs, Glen Hansard, The Waco Brothers w/ Paul Burch, CAVE, Lee Fields & The Expressions, The Corin Tucker Band, Wild Belle, The Lawrence Peters Outfit, Redmoon Theater and Guitarkestra. More bands will be announced soon including a “big announcement”. The event takes place September 14 and 15, 2012 beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $50 for both days. Like all festivals they sell a certain number of tickets at a low price, then raise the price and finally sell single day tickets. Head HERE for more information. This is a fun event and you really should go. Brendan Benson’s new video for the track, Pretty Baby, was directed by Young Hines. Young Hines is also the first signing to Benson’s own label, Readymade. If you are looking at the name “Brendan Benson” and thinking “I know him from somewhere” you are right. He was a founding member of The Raconteurs. Tour dates are below as well as the video. Good comparisons for his music are Todd Rundgren and Harry Nilsson—perhaps more of the latter. Pretty Baby is off the fifth Benson solo effort, What Kind of World. There is also a design contest for a commemorative poster for the album, What Kind Of World. The prize for winning is $500 and some other stuff. Find out more HERE. Tour

The record is a companion piece to the group’s previous release, Don’t Blame The Stars. Occasion for song has its genesis in a tragic event—the death of violinist Noel Sayre. His final work with the band was on Don’t Blame The Stars. The record is about sorrow in that sense but there is something uplifting in it as well because it is also an album about acceptance. The record was recorded in 2019 in Columbus, Ohio at Mus-i-col Recording Studio. After one quick listen it is still easy to label this recording must hear music. Jimmy Cliff has a new record coming out. His last one was pretty damned great so waiting on this one with enthusiasm. Rebirth, on Universal, comes out July 17, 2012. The press release talks about “Grammy Award” winning musician. As if Cliff needs a little piece of metal to show us who he is! The record is, again, produced by Tim Armstrong who did last year’s Sacred Fire EP. The track, One More, is available for at least a few more days as a free download (in exchange for your email) HERE. Cliff is also already on tour. Remaining dates below. JUNE

The group was a sort of “Supergroup” made up of members of Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria etc. Well that all went South and Fred Mascherino decided to give the band a new look as a three piece. Steve Curtiss and Aaron Van Allen are now on board. The band is revving things up and getting ready to play some headlining shows. Confirmed dates are below. You know what? It is good for a band to dispense with all the “former members of” stuff and just play. Don’t you think? Find out more and keep track of Terrible Things at www.terriblethings.net. Shows

Set for release on Casablanca (the record company not the Moroccan city) the release consists of ten new tracks. This is the band’s first new release in four years. The last release, Apocalypso, set the world on fire--not literally..and it mostly set their homeland figuratively ablaze. It had five hit singles and was triple platinum in Australia (which means it sold 35 copies). Seriously, one of the tracks, My People, was on the Australian carts for over 75 weeks. They also won a bunch of ARIA awards (like the Grammys but good bands sometimes win). Man, I am being sarcastic here. But I will say that I do like what I have heard from The Presets. I am just cranky. For more info head to www.thepresets.com. Laetitia Sadier’s second solo record, Silencio, comes out July 24 on Drag City. Yes, we wrote about this before but now there are two tracks for your perusal; There Is A Price To Pay For Freedom (And It Isn't Security) and Find Me The Pulse Of The Universe. More important there are tour dates, which you can also peruse. Sadier toured with Beirut some last year but this is a longer outing. The track is a re-recording of Bosé’s hit, Aire Soy. It is the first single of a new duets LP by Bosé (his second). Hear the single below or buy it HERE. The first duets album, Papito, featured duets with Michael Stipe, Juanes, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, Julieta Venegas and others. It sold over 3 million copies. Sariñana released her English language debut last year. She also played Coachella, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands festivals in 2011. Dub Pistols mix dub (as you might expect given the name), ska, hip-hop, punk and electronic music. They have been doing it for a decade and a half and they have a new record coming. Worshipping The Dollar comes out July 3 on Sunday Best Recordings. You can see a video for the track, Mucky Weekend, below. It features guest vocals from Rodney P (who also appears on other album tracks). Dub Pistols are also playing some shows in various parts of the UK—festival gigs. There will be live shows worldwide later, including the USA. Find out more and keep tabs on the band at dubpistolsmusic.co.uk. Tour (UK)
